Feature Requests / Re: Shapefiles loading
« on: March 03, 2020, 08:57:28 AM »
I have recently started exploring TF's shapefile capabilities. Some files are <10MB and some are around 100MB. Even with the smallest files, the data can still be statewide and results in a cluttered screen. I just thought it would be nice to be centered on an area of interest and have TF discard anything outside that area when reading the file in. Also, I found that I need to reproject some of the files in order to use them with TF. In case anyone else ran into this, I found a free GIS program called MapWindow that can reproject shapefiles. Serious overkill, but it works for most cases that I have tried.

Is there a way to instruct TF to ignore anything that would fall outside of the currently visible window?

TopoFusion Pro / Re: Map Calibration & Library
« on: August 11, 2011, 08:55:25 AM »
Following on with this discussion, I recently came upon TopoFusion and began experimenting with it as a supplement to/replacement for ExpertGPS. Over the years, I have accumulated numerous maps and ideally it would be nice for TopoFusion to import the existing work I've done. Realizing this may be out of the question, I must agree that TF's calibration process would be less tricky if the the original image aspect ratio was used initially. Many of my maps come up a bit weird making it difficult to place the calibration points. Also, as an alternative calibration method, could you please consider a change so that clicking a known point on the map produces a dialog box to enter coordinates for that point, repeating this process for the remaining 2-3 points. This works well for some of my GPS-friendly park/trail maps that have crosshairs at known locations.

Thanks!
