downgrade from pro to basic
« on: August 04, 2011, 04:59:10 AM »
Hello,

I purchased the pro version today and could not get it to work on my Parallels 6 for Mac program.... After no luck I decided to download the Basic version and it fires up with no problems...

Will there be fixes for the pro version with Parallels?

How can I use my Pro version activation code on the basic version so I can get rid of the DEMO blocks?

Thanks..

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback with Parallels.  I have recently heard from another user about problems with paths he had.  I'll post it here in case it helps.

But to answer your question, a Pro code works (with no modification) on Basic -- but you have to download the full version of Basic from the same page you downloaded the full version of Pro on.

We are not planning any specific changes for Parallels compatibility, maybe the below will help.

I just installed TopoFusion on my mac using parallels and XP. The first time I launched the app I got the message below:

Right after launching this pop up appeard:
Warning: Default tracks directory was invalid or does not exist. Could not create one either (trying to create \\psf\Home\Documents\My TopoFusion Files) Check permissions or change to admin.

Then this pop up appeared:
Module: frmMain
Prodedure: Load
Line Number: 0
Error Number: 380
Description: Invalid property value

The log shows this:
TopoFusion 4.200 Log Begin
SizeChanged : Not initialized, aborting

All of the attributes in the folder path above are read only and it won't let me change them. I am the computer administrator.

The solution:

I figured this out. I'm sending you how I resolved this in case this issue comes up again.

Notice that in the first pop up I told you about, the path is in unix format (\\psf\Home\Documents\My TopoFusion Files). Using windows explorer I mapped a drive (T:\) to the folder.

Now it works - no pop ups!

After reading your reply I managed to get it working.....  I'm not sure if this is what the other fella did or not but after clicking past the two error messages my topofusion would open up but not download maps.....I went into Options / Preferences / General...... From there I clicked on the box beside "Directory for Map Data", "Default Tracks Directory", "Directory for DEM Data and changed them all from "\\psf\Home\Documents\My TopoFusion Files" to "C:\Program Files\TopoFusion"

Hope this eventually helps someone else!

Not sure if that was the correct fix but it is still working for me....

Thanks for the reply which gave me an idea of what to do!
