Garmins are really sensitive to timestamps in pasted segments of a course. It seems to sort by timestamp so a segment in the middle ends up at either the beginning or end with long straight shots connecting the pasted parts and more straight shots from beginning or end to the segment. I found how to strip them (Thanks!) and then export fabricates the timestamps, but at what appears to be an arbitrary speed. In addition to notifying that fabrication may occur, it would be nice to have a dialog to enter the speed, start/end time, or whatever. Maybe turn the properties remove button into a dialog that has none, defaults to existing start time and then defaults existing end time or speed.

This might open up the possibility of fudging timed virtual races, but a constant speed would be a dead give away.

BTW, I couldn't load the final version of the 2011 Antelope Peak course on my Garmin, probably because of the pasted highway section.

I've tried gpx2crs and it only seems to create a valid .crs about 1/3 of the time. I have a 310XT with ANT Agent and would be happy to help with testing.

Interesting on the 2011 APC course.  I guess I did draw in the highway, so those points wouldn't have had time data associated with them.  However, if I was on the case I should have stripped all time data from the file before posting, then those gps units that need it would get fabricated time stamps.

I agree that a dialog with some control over the fake time stamps might be nice.  Are you thinking that you'd use it for virtual partner races?  Or just so that it shows up where you want it to on the Garmin?  Any other reasons?

Thanks.

I'd like it mostly so the times are reasonable when I go back and look at it in a couple of weeks or months. Constant speed wouldn't fit a virtual partner scenario on most of the things I ride. I've struggled so much with Garmin idiosyncrasies and quirks that I like anything that gives me more control. For instance, on the APC I followed the bonus course for most of the ride then switched to the shorter one before the turnoff and the switch stopped the GPS. I'd like to use TF more because your .crs's are usually accepted by Garmin which is not true of gpx2crs.

Thank you,
