Rotate a user map?
« on: December 13, 2009, 12:09:43 PM »
I've been importing some cycling cue sheets as custom User Maps.  Basically, I'm looking to transfer the route into GPS data.  All the features that are there are working well for me.

Based on what I've been doing, I feel it would be handy to have a new function that allows maps to be rotated to an arbitrary angle.  The custom map always has up = north.  The map can be stretched and scaled, but not skewed or turned.  My scanned cue sheets place north in all kinds of arbitrary directions, as they tend to align the longest dimension of the page with the longest dimension of the route.  Adding the ability to rotate would be handy in this kind of case.

TF can rotate, skew and shear any user map.  The 3 point transform allows for this.  Just calibrate three points and you should get the whole thing rotated to line up.

You can't manually change the rotation, but the computation for it is definitely there.  Give it a try and let me know if it works for you.
