TF already is a WMS client. Can it also be a REST client?
« on: November 07, 2013, 08:00:28 PM »
TF already is a WMS client.  And there is a ton of data on GIS servers that can be acessed via the WMS interface.

But many GIS servers only support the REST interface and do not offer the WMS interface at all.  Might TF support the REST interface at some point?

I have been able to wrap my mind around REST for use in Gmap4 and am happy to share what I know.  Some of the ESRI docs are (charitably speaking) incomplete.  The issue of tile-reprojection-on-the-fly comes to mind.

I ask since I am looking for a good way to produce custom maps (wrapped in KMZ files) for Garmins.  Some of the data I want to include on those maps is only available via REST.

If you would like to followup let's move this tech babble to PM so we do not bore the rest of the world.
