Multi Track playback ideas
« on: December 22, 2005, 08:39:39 AM »
OK, a question for anyone who uses Multi-track playback:

I really like the new click point to start feature.  It lets me compare rides, even if they didn't go the same route, or were slower in the beginning, et cetera.

Right now it simply starts each track at the closest point to where you click.  But when implementing it I debated about setting a threshold and simply not starting any tracks that aren't "close enough" to where you clicked.

In my usage of the feature so far, I've already kind of wished I had done it this way.  I don't want to have to worry about disabling or removing tracks that aren't related.  And then with the auto-zoom, it's nice to have only those that are actually where you clicked.

On the other hand, with a threshold, sometimes you will click and  possibly not get all the tracks you want (or get none at all).  I suppose I could just make it fairly large.

I guess I'm talking myself into it.  Anyway, if you have any ideas (maybe an option for both, though the dialog box is already getting complicated)... please post.

Thanks.

PS - this feature would have been released earlier, but as soon as I got it working (with no user interface) I couldn't stop playing back all my tracks.  I spent a few hours watching dot races.
