Where are downloaded tiles stored
« on: September 14, 2007, 09:46:28 AM »
I am downloading a large set that I need to move to a non-networked computer.  Which file(s) should I move so that Topofusion on the non-networked comp has access to these files?

Thank you for a product that I love!

Hi,

The files are:

mapindex.dat
Maps0.dat
Maps1.dat
...
MapsX.dat

Each mapsX.dat file can be up to 650 mb large before another file is started automatically.

Copying those files into the "map data" directory will transfer them to a new computer.  The default map directory is simply c:\program files\topofusion.

Glad you enjoy the program.

Question: If I download a large area in batch, let the download complete, and re-do the same download again (for some reasons it didn't download the whole thing...), will the MapsXX.dat increase or simply update ? In other words, will it download the same image twice therefore increasing the filesize ??

No tiles are ever downloaded again, so the file will only grow when undownloaded tiles are encountered within the area.

Is there any way to resume a download?  I am trying to download the bottom 1/3 of Vermont and twice now the wireless has flaked out on me or terra-server not responding and it stops.  Or can I easily see what has been downloaded?  I guess I could zoom and scroll around but that seems like a fairly hit or miss way.

Thanks,
Tobias
