Hello,

I found a site that showed a little how to use sdts2 converter and it seems easy to use, but what I would like to know is when I name my DEM file in the program can I name it ANYTHING? Or do I have to stick the the 4 code thing for the final DEM name? Any help from some of you who have done this would be great!

I plan to download ALOT of this DEM files. lol I am just not sure HOW the program will KNOW which DEM to use without specific names?

Grant,

You can name DEM files any way you like, as long as you keep the .dem extension. As soon as you copy them to the TF folder, TF will take care of the rest. I don't know which file TF will pick however when DEM areas overlap. Not an issue if all are the same resolution. If you have special DEM files at say the highest resolution and want to be sure that TF uses these files, the only way I've found is to temporarily put any overlapping files in some other folder.

I just use 10meter is that OK? Because I figure more info is better or is the a reson to use 30meter?

Hey guys,

Yeah, there is no good way to predict with DEM will be used if there are multiple. I think it's just the first one that it finds.

Grant, only reason not to use 10 meter is slower load times, especially if you're looking at a large area. 10 meter only helps if you're looking at a very small area. I find 30 meter good enough for my purposes, but then everyone uses the program differently.

Found the load times fast with my laptop, even with the 10 meter so I didnt bother with the 30. lol Wierd.
