Surveys in Central America
« on: December 16, 2006, 06:09:39 AM »
I'm trying to create quick and easy topographic surveys on large areas of land (125 acres and more) in Costa Rica via satellite imagery coupled with data from my GPS. When I try to pull up Costa Rica in Topofusion, I'm finding there is no map available for the area. Is there something I can do to get maps for the area from the satellite? If not, can I generate the topo's from my GPS data alone (Tracks I'm assuming)? If not, can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Mark

Hit the "L" key, or use the drop down in the upper right to switch to the Landsat tileset.

I'm not quite sure what kind of topo map you are trying to create, but if you traced out contours of the ground using a GPS you could   create topo lines, sure.  If you just want to get roads and trails marked, then GPS is ideal.
