multiple track segment selection

Is there a way to select multiple track segments and join them? Example: network creation results in some gaps or 2 sections that are logically one.

Is there a way to select multiple track segments and copy these features to a new file? Example: you have a network file for an area that you want to define a route through.

Yep, the profile (slash merge) tool is what you want.  Just hold down shift to add tracks in succession.

Right click to get a menu for reversing, removing segments from the merge and finally "save as.." to a new file.

I always felt that the profile/merge tool would be better as two different tools.  I don't like how when I want to merge tracks (I do this often) i have to click away the profile dialog box after selecting a track.  Just a suggestion.

I agree with the above--you have a "select point" tool, include a "select track" tool.  I don't need the analysis pop-up and the runner/animation every time.

I would also like the option to merge end-to-end. I keep getting a "double-back" due to time/date stamps, I'm assuming, after the network was created.

I would also like the track to be merged in situ, instead of having to export the track, then re-import.

Additional thought--in your on-line help document, if you search the page on the word "join" this option/ability does not come up.  In fact, the word "Join" is nowhere on the page.

It would be a good addition.

Hi,

I agree with the suggestion to split the merge and profile tools.  We will soon split them (next beta).  Thanks for pointing out what should have been obvious.

Wayne, can you describe what you mean by 'end to end'?

Hopefully a separate merge tool will lend to the word 'join' being included in the docs.

For others, I tried doing it with text but the board reduces multiple ___ or --- even using the Code command.  Sorry, no way to do it with text.

Got it.  The program is not looking at time information at all.  It simply merges the tracks in the order the track points are stored.

You know you can right click and select "reverse last track" when in the merge tool, right?  That solves any of these issues.

That said, it would be great to have a mode where it will choose to reverse the segment you just clicked on (or perhaps the entire set of tracks you've already clicked on) so that it lines up.

This kind of mode might be undesirable in some cases -- when you want strict control of the track and the direction it travels.

Anyway, this is a good time to be thinking about this, since we'll be splitting the merge and profile tools.
