I downloaded the TopoFusion demo and am very excited about this program, it looks like what we've been looking for to create maps for our land management service. But I can't get anything to download from my Magellan XL.
Is the demo set up to work with Magellan? I've gone through options and the faq's but keep getting the same box about port error and is the device turned on.

Hi,
The eXplorist line of units do not use the "GPS Transfer" dialog to transfer data. Instead look for the GPS to come up as a USB hard drive on your computer.
TopoFusion can then directly load the .log and .upt file. I then recommend using "save as..." to save them onto your hard drive and in GPX format rather than .log.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Ok, I danced around about four programs and finally got a track on the map. If I can figure out how to do this reliably, this is going to be great. does the full version offer more communication or printing options?

You shouldn't need any other programs -- just windows itself and TopoFusion. Do let me know if you have a problem opening a .log file from within TopoFusion?
The full version operates the same as the demo -- no additional communication or printing options.
We hope to upgrade the printing options soon, FYI.

If I open the Magellan as drive g; then save as to my desktop, I can open the file from the file icon in topofusion.
Is this what you mean, or should I be able to just connect the Magellan and open the tracks into topofusion?
Thanks for your help.

Either way. It just sounded like you were using several programs when really all you need is TopoFusion.
I'd copy them to your hard drive eventually, if not right when you take a look at the tracks.
