Downloading large areas - Like a State
« on: July 27, 2006, 08:11:32 AM »
I would like to have the whole state of California in my laptop so it is available.

I have been trying to use the Load Maps tool but after a few days of continual downloading I still only have a small part of the state.

Is there a source where map files of areas has already been downloaded and are available to import into TopoFusion?

Hi,

No, sorry, there's no source other than the server itself.

I'm not sure downloading an entire state at all detail levels is really a good idea.  That's a lot of data on the 1 meter aerial level.  How large is your hard drive?   '<img'>

I'd try disabling some of the smaller tilesets which will decrease the  time and space taken exponentially.

E.G. you might be able to get the whole state at 16 Topo and Aerial, but you may as well forget 1 meter and likely 4 meter as well.
