Title: Can you import info from MapSource?
Post by: tedrusky on August 17, 2005, 05:56:29 PM
First, let me say that this is an amazing program and the trial version is a great way of promoting it!  I wouldn't have believed it.

I have an Etrex vista and have saved all of my tracks on the MapSource software over the last 1.5 years.  Is there any way to transfer this data to TF?  So far, the only idea that I have is to upload them back onto the GPS (which will compress the files) and then download them back to TF.

Thanks!

g7ToWin is the universal converter program.

g7ToWin can open just about any GPS file and save as any GPS file

luckily once you have it saved as a GPX file, you can open that with Mapsource, no need to convert back again.

(one word to the wise:  if you are converting many file in g7ToWin, make sure to "clear >> all" after each conversion, otherwise the files add together each time you open another one)

Hi,

Kuren - thanks for helping out while I've been on the road.

G7toWin is a good idea, but newer versions of Mapsource support saving .GPX files.  Go to garmin.com, support, and get the update for Mapsource.  There are other improvements that are worth the update, too.
