Camera and GPS time problem
« on: August 01, 2006, 04:44:03 AM »
Hello,

I've got a frustrating problem. I have a Garmin GPS 60CSx and a Nikon D70. The time sync between them is accurate to within a second. I took a bunch of pictures while I was out geocaching, and saved a GPX file from my Garmin when I got back with TopoFusion (GREAT program by the way--I'm still demoing it, but it looks like I'm buying this one!). I can't get any program to stamp my photos with the correct coordinates, they all complain about a time sync problem. My computer is set to EST (I think we are in daylight savings time in the summer, making me GMT-4). My computer, camera, and Garmin all have the same time within a second. The date/time in my EXIF headers for each picture look like the correct time they were taken in EST. The GPX log file looks like it's also the correct time we hiked in GMT. So what the heck gives here?! Why won't PhotoFusion, RoboGeo, WWMX, or any other program I've tried sync these things up? I can send the GPX file and a couple JPGs to anyone who wants to look into this for me. I'm out of ideas... It's gotta be something stupid!  '<img'>

An update on this issue --

Aaron sent us his files and it turns out his camera was just set to 2005 instead of 2006.  Easy to miss!

Sometimes you just need someone else to take a quick look at it.

Hey Krein,

I was going to post an update and thank you guys on your great support, but you beat me to it! A lot of people looked at my files, but you were the only one that noticed the simple problem. Things are working great since fixing the date on all the photos and setting my camera to the right year so it wouldn't happen again. ':p'

Thanks again!
