2.97 Installation
« on: October 04, 2006, 01:22:21 AM »
I uninstalled 2.85 from my system and then ran the installation for the 2.97 version. Seemed to work OK, but now Topofusion is can not be accessed through my start menu. It seems to work OK running it from the directory directly, but I was surprised the installation did not put it back in the start menu. I am running Win XP sp2.

Hmm.. looks like an unintentional side effect of a request to *not* create start menu groups if the program is already installed.

To get them back do this:

Delete TopoFusion.exe from program files\topofusion
Re-install 2.97 (the .exe and start menu should come back now)

Sorry 'bout the problem.

Krein,

Still did not work. I initially uninstalled with add-remove programs in the control panel. I have tried about 5 times with slight variations but Topofusion is still not appearing in the start menu. '<img'>

Hmm.  I will have to test the installer a little more.

I'll get it fixed and let you know, probably tomorrow.

Maybe...
When performing the remove of the old version you selected to keep maps, etc.
This would have kept the 'Program Files/TopoFusion' directory in place.  Installing the new version would just place trhe exe in that directory.  I had a similar experience and found that I could rename the ''Program Files/TopoFusion'' directory (to maybe 'Program Files/OLDTopoFusion' back to 'Program Files/TopoFusion'.  Now I have my Start menu entrie, etc.

Worked for me. :-)
