Yep, it's already there .. the Landsat tileset.

In the newest version (beta only) you can zoom out and look at the entire world using the Landsat imagery.  The current version is limited to the 1024M Landsat tiles since it uses a UTM projection rather than Geographic (Lat/Lon).

Wow, great news. :-) I cant wait to see your final version when done.

Will the NEW version still work on a Toughbook28 1ghz with 512 ram and 4mb shared video?

Thanks

One question on the 2.97 that I use I only see 16meter it seemed a little higher than the sat-7 so that is sat-7? I thought it would be like landsat 7meter

Yes, it should still run on older machines.  Perhaps a little slower though.  My "field" laptop is a 1.2 Ghz with 256 mg RAM and 16 mb video and it runs much faster than the previous version.  Just have a few graphical bugs to work out.

The Landsat imagery is ~15 meter at the highest resolution.  You'll get slightly better detail in the new D3D TopoFusion, but it's not really noticeable.

But worldwind says sat 7 isnt that 7meter? I noticed when I used there program a while back they had more detail as close up that the sat photos available for download in this software? Just curious if there is something missing that could be new?

Thanks

BTW you video is better than mine. lol I think I have 4-8mb not sure as they only list the old specs and its shared video memory, it must have 3d in the chipset otherwise some of the 3d wouldnt work? who knows. lol

No the 7 does not mean 7 meter, it's the type of imagery.

I just did a comparsion between worldwind and TopoFusion and the resolution is better in TF.  They must not be downloading the highest resolution tiles, probably to conserver bandwidth.

Actually, world wind uses a completely different server.  The original source of the data is the same (landsat 7), but the colors are funky and detail not as good.

TopoFusion uses the OnEarth Server, which hosts the mosaic created by Lucian Plesea.  World Wind initially used Lucian's data, but for some reason decided duplicate his efforts, and it seems they didn't do as good of a job.

Sorry my mistake, I thought it looked more detail, I must have been wrong, then again it was a couple weeks ago that I used worldwind.

Thanks
