Has anyone figured out a way to take their tracks from National Geographic TOPO and convert them so TOPO Fusion can understand them? If you can make instructions simple, as I am no computer wiz, I would appreciate your help. Thanks.

I've got DeLorme Topo and it doesn't "save" to GPX, but it does Export to GPX.

See if you have an export option. If you do, you will be able to find it by searching your help file.

TopoFusion opens GPX.

This solution is rather crude... but it works, both ways; gpx to Topo! and the reverse. So far I have not found a more convenient way to get a track from TF to Topo! Topo! can import .gpx waypoints, but not tracks it seams.

But to this question, Topo to TF: Have Topo! create a route for any track you would like to transfer, hook the gps up, export the track or waypoints to the gps, and then import the the stuff in the GPS into TF.

Did I mention crude? Â ':p'

It works better going from TF to Topo! Use the active directory in the GPS, because it can store a huge number of points, as opposed to the saved tracks directory. Â

I'm waiting for an easy to use converter. Last time I checked, GPS Babel could not do Topo version 4.x

I had some success using GPSBabel to convert .TPO files to .GPX. I don't know which version of Topo! these .TPO files came from, but it worked fairly well.

Did the .TPO format change in recent versions? I know the .tpo capability was only recently added.

Krein, up through version 2.7.x, Topo! used two file formats; .tpo for the user generated graphics on the base map, and .tpg for waypoints. Â From version 3 on, .tpo files contain the waypoins; no need for .tpg.

I just downloaded the newest version of GPS Babel (nov 06) and I see that it now can use .tpo versions 3.x and 4.x as input. So right, GPS Babel is an option to convert Topo! files to .gpx, except I think it's only going to transfer the waypoints. If you have simply drawn a track in Topo!, that would not be converted unless you made a GPS route of it too.

My problem is the opposite conversion; TF files to Topo! As I already have all the waypoints in TF, all I want to do is trace the gps'd route in Topo! without the waypoints. Topo! gives you this option when you download from a GPS. I have not figured out a way to do this using only software coversions.
