TopoFusion is an excellent program and I find myself using it over other programs.
One thing I would like to see added is a true bearing indicator in addition to the distance indicator when I use the draw track tool.  I spend allot of time drawing in property lines and trails that require me to plot the next track point based on the distance and bearing from a previous track piont.
Great program, Keep up the good work.  Thank you

The above idea is really good. Two years later, has it been done?

I'm playing around with the pencil/draw track tool. Is there a way for it to show the length of the line/individual segment I'm drawing and the true heading/direction I'm going as opposed to the location coordinate of the arrow. For example, I feel pretty good about a "point of beginning" located at the corner of the property along a road. The survey says the property 1,500 feet deep, but I don't have a good feel of that when I'm in the woods.

Hey, it hasn't been 2 years!  ... OK, almost.

The truth is that not many people have requested this, so it's lower on the totem pole than other features.  It's not like it is hard, though, so I'll move it up.

Next version should be out tomorrow or so, but probably in the next beta I'll work on bearing and current segment length, among other mods to the drawing tool.

I got registered. It looks like the length of the segment is in the bottom left. The bearing would be a great addition and helpful with a new trail construction project.

Thanks,

Will

OK, I thought maybe you meant distance of the last segment added (point to mouse position), not total distance of the line.

Would it be better to have both?

Krein, this feature would be most useful for me too. Often I just need a quick distance and direction from point A to point B, say for hiking or driving directions. Don't need to save anything, don't want to create waypoint files I will not need, etc.

By the way, it would be handy if one could delete and or rename .gpx files from within TF. (Or can you already?) I'm getting a huge collection of these files some of which were just for planning. Unless I remember what files are safe to dump (unlikely!) I need to have TF open to manage the files. Not needing Windows Explorer would save a step.

Sorry, I meant the last segment. Showing both the last segment and total would be good.

After playing with it, I see the bottom left figure only captures the total distance. I'll enter a 211 foot segment, then a 327 foot segment. After two segments I'm breaking out the calculator, and  after 1300 total feet, it converts to miles which is fine if you're measuring overall trail distance, but not good when you need to enter the next 250 foot segment of the property line.

Having it measure each segment separately, so that a calculator isn't needed, would be good. Keep the distance in feet, even if its a long segment over 1300 feet. I haven't seen a survey use miles.

The bearing would show something like N46deg55'51"
