Gluttony

Gluttony continues here in Tookson. Might as well live before you die.

I’ve done so many good rides lately that I can’t keep track, let alone keep up.

Jay shows me how it’s done through the rock jam. On the rigid karate monkey, no less. It doesn’t look hard, but I couldn’t get out cleanly after ~6 tries. We went exploring off cherry tank, CP singletrack and back down Baby Jesus trail.

Paula (look close) cruises to an easy victory at the first ever Arizona Trail Run. Just a tad more interesting than the standard loop and a half around Reid Park. Seems like every race in Tucson goes around Reid park…. . After the race I headed south 10 miles to ride a few bits of AZT that weren’t ready for the AZT 300 last year.

Some very good stuff out there. The piece shown above doesn’t look like much, and there were certainly more interesting/technical bits, but that was my favorite. The trail was easy/smooth enough that I could look off into Davidson Canyon. Tight corners were minimal, lending to some quality flow.

Finally, Louis’ departure has been delayed. So in the meantime the western slopes of the Catalinas are not safe.

Ian, sir rock monkey.

The ‘trail’ is called Buddha, and it’s a great, great line. The Louis style of riding sure is addicting. And this time I only scared myself a few times, making sleep easier to come by. Didn’t hurt that I was smoked from the “hot” conditions. It was only 80, but I got pretty scorched. Sun headache, sweat stinging the eyes. Felt good until my stomach turned and my eyes hurt when open.

Very first hot ride and I’m already getting flashbacks to a certain long, HOT HOT HOT, ridiculous ride I did last summer. More on that here:

Tomorrow it’s back to west side Catalinas and more gluttony.
