Leadville and Lee

Lee called me the other day, saying he was thinking about riding the Colorado Trail from Denver to Leadville. I said, “why not leave from your door, ride to my place, and I’ll give you a ride back.”

That was all it took. He swung into action, including fabricating a new steel rack for his Leviathan.

He got pounded by rain and hail in Long Gulch, but otherwise had perfect weather for the trip. He described cresting Georgia Pass at sunset with calm, still air and not a storm in sight. That bastard! 🙂

He arrived at my place full of energy, but happy to be off the trail just the same. I took him back to Leadville, stayed the night and rode the local loop on my unloaded B29. Ugh. Rest seems to make me more tired. It was a good ride, but I came away pretty discouraged about future riding prospects. Lee was bouncing off the walls with enthusiasm throughout the ride.

I can sit around and dream about re-trying the Colorado Trail, or some such nonsense. But I really am wondering what is up with me these days. Theories change by the day. The human body is such a complex thing that it’s hard to know anything for certain.

I’ll just enjoy the (short, very short) rides I can do, and dream of regaining my strength. For now it seems thunderstorms are on the horizon, so I’m not missing much out there. The season for riding the trail is coming to a close, though…

In TopoFusion news, the NSIS installer is finally working. This is going to be a major improvement for future releases. But this first one was a pain. Anyone that downloaded the demo yesterday likely got nothing when they first ran TopoFusion. If you’re wondering what’s going on, just download it again. So things go in the wonderful world of computers.
